The story

The challenge

Ottica Bella is a family optician with two shops in northern Italy. Their old website was a digital brochure: opening hours, a gallery and a phone number. People found them on Google, looked at frames, then went to Amazon to buy the same brand for less. The shop was paying for traffic that converted somewhere else.

02

The approach

  • Interviewed the owners and five loyal customers to learn why people actually choose a local optician.
  • Repositioned the site around what Amazon cannot offer: fitting, eye tests and aftercare.
  • Designed a “reserve and try in store” flow so online browsing ends with a booking, not a bounce.
  • Added Italian trust signals: real staff photos, Google reviews and clear warranty terms.

What I built

A WooCommerce store with a frame finder, a reservation system tied to each shop, and product pages that answer the fit and price questions before the customer asks them. Every page loads in about two seconds on mobile.
